About The Position

The Receiver is responsible for accepting site-delivered material, unloading freight into the warehouse, and ensuring accuracy between delivered items, packing slips, and SAP orders. This role involves verifying contents, contacting vendors for discrepancies, processing goods receipts in SAP, and handling specialty items and non-PO items. The Receiver also plays a role in preparing freight for transport, managing rail car seals, and assisting the Dow team with rush product and construction withdrawals. Additionally, the position requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols, and completing required training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of related experience
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks

Responsibilities

  • Accept site delivered material
  • Unload freight into warehouse
  • Ensure delivery information matches physical items
  • Verify packing slip matches contents, physically checking specific items and opening boxes
  • Confirm SAP order matches what was shipped with 3 point verification (physical item, SAP, packing list)
  • Contact Vendor for discrepancies (Inaccurate orders, Damaged goods, Duplicate items, etc.)
  • Post goods receipt in SAP to appropriate PO and scan all relevant paperwork (MTR's, checklists, certifications)
  • Handle specialty items (electric motors) requiring additional forms and tagging
  • Fill out additional forms as required (Pressure vessels, PIEM checks)
  • Work with engineering team on QC inspections and provide paperwork as requested
  • Digitally track non-PO items using MS Forms
  • Secure freight with banding or shrink wrap for safe transport
  • Attach paperwork to freight, mark delivery location, and move to staging area
  • Process unique or large items before unload if necessary to avoid double handling
  • Ensure proper handling of rail car seals (as per Dow policy) upon arrival
  • Assist Dow team in finding and processing rush product as required
  • Process construction withdrawals via email requests
  • Ensure Dow rep withdrawing construction material properly fills out stock withdrawal forms
  • Ensure all related construction job material is placed together
  • Manually track paperwork for construction items
  • Sweep areas clean
  • Remove garbage
  • Maintain clear aisles for forklift and pedestrian traffic
  • Empty cardboard, garbage, and metal bins as required
  • Complete Daily FLHA/PTA cards
  • Attend Bi-Weekly safety meetings
  • Complete Weekly hazard ID cards
  • Complete all Dow required courses (Diamond Learning) on time
  • Read, understand, and follow Vallen's health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&S legislation/regulations
  • Actively participate in Vallen's health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections
  • Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses
  • Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return-to-work programs or requirements
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks
  • Perform other duties as required
