About The Position

Apple’s team validates the RF performance of cellular transceivers and the RF subsystems built around them. The role contributes to the validation of cutting-edge cellular transceivers and helps expand validation capabilities for future Apple products. These RF subsystems support cellular connectivity while minimizing battery drain. Responsibilities span defining test strategy and creating test plans from receiver system specifications, characterizing and optimizing key RF parameters, analyzing functional and performance issues across verification phases, and developing test-automation scripts. The engineer works in an agentic engineering flow: scoping problems, defining pass/fail criteria, delegating implementation and execution to AI agents, and verifying results against specifications. The role also applies AI/ML methods to improve measurement and analysis capabilities and scale regression environments. The work is collaborative, involving technical coordination with teams such as Design, Firmware, and System. The engineer is expected to manage deliveries and dependencies independently and meet commitments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Communication/Embedded Systems, or equivalent, paired with several years of relevant industry work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of RF fundamentals and RF measurement techniques.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML, including the ability to apply methods to achieve results and a solid grasp of fundamentals.
  • Programming skills, using modern AI-coding assistants to generate scripts, debug logic, and optimize code; languages may include Python, C/C++, and MATLAB.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Familiarity with RF transceiver system definition and architecture, including RF impairments such as I/Q imbalance, DC offset, phase noise, and nonlinearity, and their impact on receiver performance.
  • Ability to derive validation strategies, test plans, and pass/fail criteria from system specifications.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP standards, particularly RF transceiver aspects and receiver RF requirements.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI/ML techniques and agentic engineering—delegating tasks to AI agents and verifying their output—to RF, signal-processing, or lab-automation problems.
  • Hands-on experience characterizing and debugging RF cellular systems and components, including root cause analysis, and creating test-automation scripts.
  • Ability to collaborate technically with a variety of teams.
  • Team spirit, excellent communication skills, and willingness to take on diverse challenges.
