About The Position

Upper Canada Child Care is recruiting Registered Early Childhood Educator(s) and Assistant Educator(s) for a casual supply position in Innisfil at St. Andre Bessette CS. This position is to fill a new vacancy and requires availability for a split shift in a before and after school program. Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts per month. Upper Canada Child Care, a non-profit licensed provider since 1983, operates over 85 centers and offers various programs including full-day, before and after school, summer camps, and forest school. Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or university (for ECE position).
  • A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
  • Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
  • Up-to-date registration with the College of ECEs (if applicable).
  • Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
  • Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
  • Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
  • Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
  • Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
  • Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
  • Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.

Responsibilities

  • Applies current legislative expectations and professional knowledge to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (for RECE position).
  • Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
  • Provides guidance to assistant educators, students and volunteers as needed.
  • Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
  • Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
  • Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
