About The Position

The NET: East Charter High School is seeking a Real World Learning Coordinator to manage its Real World Learning (RWL) program. This program focuses on integrating real-world experiences into the school and taking students out into the community, with a primary emphasis on running a robust internship program. The goal is to provide students with opportunities for professional immersion, mentorship, and skill development, helping them plan for their futures and connect academic learning with the world around them. The RWL Coordinator will be responsible for directing the internship program, facilitating the integration of real-world projects into classroom learning, and building partnerships for off-campus learning experiences such as dual enrollment, CTE programming, and excursions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in education, business, marketing and/or workforce development, preferably in the New Orleans area.
  • Experience working with at-risk students or adults with a demonstrated record of improving their career opportunities and success.
  • 2+ years in a leadership, coaching or training position.
  • Experience in program development, monitoring & evaluation.
  • Excellent marketing, communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Skilled at program design, monitoring and evaluation, workplanning, and execution.
  • Flexible and learning mindset dedicated to effectively & innovatively problem solving.
  • Personal transportation for off-campus meetings, events, interviews, etc.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and complete required employment eligibility verification.
  • Must complete required background checks for Louisiana public schools.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Internship Program, making approximately 100 professional internships across the city possible each year.
  • Bring the World Into the School by helping teachers connect assignments and learning to real-world projects and problems.
  • Bring Students Out to the World by building and managing partnerships for dual enrollment, CTE programming, excursions, and other learning opportunities outside the classroom.
  • Develop and deliver career preparation curriculum, including pre-internship preparation and internship coaching.
  • Partner with internal and external programs to ensure a continuum of career preparation and development for seniors and alumni.
  • Recruit, select, train, and support mentors for the internship program, including conducting site visits and evaluating mentor experiences.
  • Market the internship program throughout the neighborhood and city, attending community meetings and boards.
  • Develop relationships with corporations and organizations to build a diverse directory of internships.
  • Work with faculty and students to identify interests and place students in internships.
  • Coach and monitor students during internships, including site visits and regular check-ins.
  • Work with school faculty to develop academic connections for students in internships.
  • Develop and oversee a performance management/evaluation system for students.
  • Develop and improve internship program policies, procedures, and structures.
  • Set goals for student and program performance and analyze data for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in school-related duties and functions such as duty, test proctoring, and event planning.
  • Involve yourself in the continual development and improvement of the school’s curriculum, culture, and program.
