About The Position

Leidos’ Electronic Warfare Division is seeking a Real-Time Software Engineer to perform design, development, and hardware/software integration in Arlington, Virginia. The division focuses on research and development and advanced prototyping, transforming state-of-the-art signal-processing algorithms into real-time software systems. Projects use small multidisciplinary teams working in spiral or agile development environments to meet customer schedules for near-term field demonstrations. The role contributes to high-performance signal processing on general-purpose processors such as ARM. The engineer will collaborate with software engineers and subject matter experts in systems engineering, hardware, firmware, machine learning, RF front-end design, and signal processing. The position includes designing, implementing, and testing real-time C/C++ software for multicore systems running Linux or real-time operating systems, integrating software with hardware and third-party frameworks, documenting systems, and supporting occasional field testing and collection events. Field events usually last about a week and occur once or twice a year.

  • Experience using common scripting languages such as Bash.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of advanced systems on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Design, implement, and test real-time C/C++ software for multicore systems running Linux or real-time operating systems such as VxWorks.
  • Build software products that use third-party mathematics and communications libraries.
  • Interface with communications standards and protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and DDS.
  • Read and understand signal-processing algorithms written in MATLAB.
  • Work with Linux and real-time operating systems.
  • Design, implement, and test software to configure and control RF hardware devices.
  • Integrate software into third-party frameworks and architectures such as Redhawk.
  • Document developed systems.
