Real-Time Software Engineers (Associate or Experienced)
About The Position
The Boeing Precision Engagement Systems organization in St. Charles, Missouri, is hiring Associate- and Experienced-level Real-Time Software Engineers to develop, integrate, test, and deliver software solutions supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security. The organization produces precision-guided weapons, and the St. Charles team supports Direct Attack weapons and Cruise Missiles deployed on military aircraft and selected ground platforms. The software team develops and maintains Operational Flight Programming (OFP) and other real-time embedded software used for weapon-system mission processing. The team uses Agile methods and the Secure Digital Transformation Environment tool stack, including Jira, BitBucket, Confluence, and Artifactory. OFP software is written in Ada. In this role, you will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute across the software development lifecycle, taking ownership of features from design through deployment. Work may include developing real-time embedded applications, creating models and simulations, implementing DevOps practices and automated development environments, building support tools, and managing software configuration and Agile release processes. The role also offers the opportunity to work directly with U.S. Air Force and Navy customers. The position is based at Boeing’s St. Charles campus. Relocation assistance may be available depending on eligibility. Applicants must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required after starting. U.S. citizenship is required to meet the stated security-clearance requirement, and the role must meet U.S. export-control requirements. Boeing will not sponsor employment visas. A technical assessment is required as part of the selection process.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance; an interim and/or final Secret Clearance is required after starting.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of programming experience in C, C++, or Ada.
- At least 3 years of real-time embedded software development experience.
- At least 3 years of experience developing software using object-oriented principles.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a team environment.
- Must meet U.S. export-control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person; the posting states that U.S. citizenship is required for the security-clearance requirement.
- Must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.
- Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
Nice To Haves
- At least 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- For Level 2: a relevant Bachelor of Science degree and 2+ years of related work experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience, or 10+ years of related relevant experience.
- For Level 3: a relevant Bachelor of Science degree and 5+ years of related work experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience, or 13+ years of related relevant experience.
- Active U.S. Secret clearance.
- Experience with Ada, Python, or C#.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Experience with Git or a similar version-control system.
- Experience developing and tracing software requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to create and implement Operational Flight Program (OFP) software solutions.
- Contribute throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.
- Develop software solutions using Ada and C/C++.
- Test software and assist with system-level testing to verify correct functionality.
- Analyze problem reports and troubleshoot software defects.
