About The Position

Receive, evaluate, and transmit information via telephone, computer, and multi-channel radio, often involving emergency and critical situations. Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and other computer systems to quickly analyze data, recognize intelligence, and maintain security of sensitive materials. Perform multiple simultaneous activities in a high-visibility setting with frequent interruptions, adhering to rules and regulations. Provide tactical and strategic intelligence, analyze crime records, query various databases (criminal, commercial, homeland security, open source), and develop intelligence products like bulletins and threat assessments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of experience in any combination of the following areas: data analysis, computer-aided dispatch utilization, law enforcement database utilization, dispatching, computer-aided research.
  • Ability to obtain NCIC Certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Ability to successfully complete National Criminal Intelligence Resource Center's 28 CFR Part 23 training within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete on-the-job training and pass the Real Time Crime Center Certification exam.
  • Must pass Drug Test, Hearing Test, Criminal Records check, and Background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a public safety environment.
  • Possession of National Incident Management System (NIMS) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and interpret coded information via CAD, telephone, and multi-channel radio.
  • Read and interpret maps (Albuquerque street map, New Mexico State map, city and county maps, computer mapping systems) to locate geographical areas and provide timely assistance.
  • Accurately input, update, request, and transmit information from various sources to maintain records and access databases for checks (information, wants, warrants, intelligence, driver's license, vehicle registration).
  • Review daily bulletins (APB summary, ATLs) to stay current on wanted suspects, stolen vehicles, and officer safety issues.
  • Maintain awareness of other activities in the Real Time Crime Center (9-1-1 calls, critical incidents) to connect related information and provide support.
  • Maintain security and integrity of all information within the Real Time Crime Center.
  • Monitor, collect, collate, evaluate, and analyze crime data for trends and patterns.
  • Communicate effectively with end users.
  • Appear in court as subpoenaed.
  • Review shift's activities at the end of the shift with the relieving operator to ensure accurate information exchange.
  • Remain current on job-specific procedures through training courses.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Perform additional related and essential duties as assigned.
