About The Position

Person County Government is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Real Property Appraiser to join the Tax Office team. This professional position plays a critical role in ensuring equitable property taxation by accurately discovering, listing, measuring, analyzing, and appraising real, commercial, and personal property throughout the County. Requirements

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Requires Real Property Appraiser Certification from the Department of Revenue within two (2) years of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Must be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the US within 3 days of the start of your employment with the County.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the appraising of farm, residential, commercial, industrial and mobile homes and other properties to determine their value; photographs and sketches layouts of structures; determines grade of material and quality of workmanship.
• Assists the public via telephone or in person with inquiries concerning appraised values and procedures.
• Implements valuation policy to be used in the tax appraisal program.
• Prepares a variety of reports and records for submission as required.
• Performs related work as assigned.
