About The Position

Our client, a leading public accounting and advisory firm recognized as a Great Place to Work®, is seeking an experienced Real Estate Supervisor to join its growing Real Estate and Affordable Housing practice in Madison. This is more than a traditional public accounting role. It's an opportunity to become a key advisor to affordable housing developers, ownership groups, real estate operators, syndicators, and nonprofit organizations while leading sophisticated assurance, tax, and advisory engagements focused on the affordable housing and real estate sectors. As a Supervisor, you'll serve as a primary client contact, mentor developing professionals, and continue building specialized expertise in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) entities, partnership taxation, and affordable housing compliance. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • Experience managing audit, tax, or accounting engagements
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Leadership potential and mentoring capabilities
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex audit, review, compilation, and tax engagements
  • Coordinate engagement planning, staffing, and scheduling
  • Review financial statements, disclosures, tax returns, and supporting documentation
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure engagements are completed efficiently and within budget
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients
  • Build strong relationships with ownership groups, developers, and management companies
  • Lead client meetings and engagement discussions
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and technical guidance
  • Deliver exceptional client service and responsiveness
  • Assist clients with affordable housing compliance requirements
  • Support LIHTC-related reporting and accounting matters
  • Review partnership structures and tax reporting issues
  • Help clients navigate industry-specific regulations and requirements
  • Develop deeper expertise within the affordable housing sector
  • Supervise, mentor, and train staff accountants and seniors
  • Review workpapers and provide constructive feedback
  • Lead project teams and engagement workflow
  • Support performance management and staff development efforts
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment
