About The Position

Under the supervision of one or more attorneys, the paralegal will perform a variety of legal duties for the assigned department. Assignments will include both billable and non‑billable matters. The work performed requires knowledge of basic legal concepts, principles, real estate, and finance related terminology and practices, use of legal reference material, and law office procedures. Skills required include the ability to reason logically, analyze situations, recommend an effective course of action, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, draft documents, manage multiple assignments/projects to completion, obtain and report information received through research and investigation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge/understanding of real estate documents and execution and recording compliance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with firm attorneys, opposing counsel, clients, firm management, peers and outside vendors, such as title companies and engineering firms
  • Must be proactive, detail-oriented, organized and demonstrate initiative on a consistent basis
  • Must have ability to multi-task, problem solve and organize
  • Must be flexible, demonstrating the ability to adapt easily to a fast-paced working environment
  • Must be able to keep client matters confidential
  • Must have a professional and pleasant demeanor when communicating with clients, attorneys and third parties associated with transactions
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficient in use of DoubleTime or other equivalent software for residential transactions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a large law firm environment or extensive real estate experience preferred
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field a plus
  • Legal project management experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review and draft real estate documents, such as deeds, leases, assignments, promissory notes etc. for residential condominium transactions
  • Communicate directly with attorneys, clients, outside counsel and vendors on active matters as necessary to resolve issues and keep projects on track
  • Prepare title insurance commitments and policies
  • Prepare and organize closing documents for execution and circulation
  • Attend and participate in closings
  • Track, follow-up and record post-closing documents
  • Obtain/search land records, property information and history from various County’s on-line records
  • Provide cross-office support
