About The Position

Our legal team is dedicated to providing clients with high-quality counsel, innovative solutions, and personalized service. Established in 2000, our firm has grown to include over 120 attorneys with extensive experience and strong problem-solving skills developed over decades of practice. We are a dynamic, fast-paced, and expanding full-service law firm seeking a Paralegal to support a Partner whose practice spans Real Estate and Family / Matrimonial Law in our Brooklyn office. This role is ideal for a candidate with a foundation in real estate matters who is interested in expanding into family law. Training in family law will be provided.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with experience in real estate transactions preferred
  • Exposure to or interest in family/matrimonial law (training will be provided)
  • Paralegal certificate required
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience reviewing financial and disclosure documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office software
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with closing processes, title review, and real estate documentation is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare motions, pleadings, judgments, statements, and other legal documents, including debt and asset lists, child support worksheets, and responsive pleadings
  • Assist with real estate transactions, including preparing closing documents, reviewing title reports, coordinating closings, and handling post-closing matters
  • Act as a liaison between clients and attorneys, including conducting client interviews
  • Prepare trial notebooks and assist during trials as needed
  • Compile and review discovery packages, including disclosure statements, interrogatories, and document production
  • Maintain detailed calendars using Outlook and coordinate scheduling of internal and external meetings
  • Serve pleadings, discovery documents, and demands
  • Assist with litigation and transactional document preparation
  • Plan and schedule appointments
  • Answer inbound phone calls
  • Maintain organized filing systems (electronic and physical)
  • Handle court filings, including e-filing in Family Court, state, and federal courts
  • Track court dates, closing dates, and deadlines
  • Review bank statements, financial records, and real estate-related documents
  • Manage a heavy caseload while maintaining a high level of organization
  • Request conflict checks, open new client matters, submit electronic approvals, and assist with administrative tasks
  • Use MS Office applications, including Excel, as well as Westlaw and ProLaw
  • Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, lenders, title companies, and staff
  • Complete other ad hoc projects as required
