About The Position

East West Bank is seeking a Real Estate Evaluation Officer for our Appraisal team. This role involves conducting independent administrative compliance reviews of commercial and residential real estate appraisals to ensure adherence to regulatory and Bank requirements. The officer will provide constructive feedback to appraisers or third-party evaluators and act as a liaison with the business line, specifically assisting the Residential Mortgage Team with elevated residential appraisal reports and communicating with Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs). The position requires writing commercial and residential real estate evaluations, validation, or review reports in a timely manner, and producing monthly and quarterly quality control reports for appraisals ordered by the Residential Mortgage team. Additionally, the role involves analyzing real estate trends and markets, understanding valuations, performing research, and providing market data. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for providing project updates and supporting administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working effectively in a high-intensity environment. This role may also involve assisting the appraisal coordinator with documenting and tracking valuation orders and deadlines, as well as ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

  • Commercial and residential real estate evaluation experience and/or commercial and residential real estate review experience.
  • Real estate knowledge of residential and commercial real estate appraisals and the use of an evaluation report.
  • Proficient navigation skills with Word, Excel, and artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized with a proven ability to work well in a high-intensity environment to complete tasks quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent administrative compliance (non-licensed task) review of commercial and residential real estate appraisals to ensure compliance with regulatory and Bank requirements.
  • Provide constructive feedback to appraisers or 3rd party evaluators.
  • Act as liaison to the Residential Mortgage Team to assist them occasionally on elevated residential appraisal reports and provide recommendation and/or discuss directly with the Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs).
  • Write commercial and residential real estate evaluations, validation or review reports in a timely manner.
  • Conduct and write a monthly and quarterly quality control report of appraisals ordered by the Residential Mortgage team.
  • Analyze commercial and residential real estate trends and markets, understand overall commercial and residential valuations, perform research using internal and external tools to provide market data.
  • Provide regular project updates to internal stakeholders and support reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Assist the appraisal coordinator documenting and tracking valuation orders and deadlines.
  • Complete adhoc projects as requested.
