About The Position

Benesch is seeking an experienced Real Estate/Commercial Finance Paralegal for its Healthcare group in the Columbus office. This position offers a hybrid schedule with work-from-home flexibility. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial financing, banking, and real estate purchases and sales, with the ability to manage numerous real estate deals concurrently. This is a senior-level role requiring independence and the ability to support busy attorneys.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certification (preferred).
  • 5+ years of real estate, commercial finance, and/or banking experience.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Solid time management and organizational skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Excellent customer service attitude.
  • Must be available for overtime work and travel as needed.

  • Experience in commercial financing and/or banking.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to attorneys in the coordination, management, and supervision of all aspects of litigation.
  • Handle caseloads.
  • Prepare drafts of legal and other documents and correspondence for attorney review.
  • Compile, analyze, and summarize information.
  • Coordinate efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, other parties, and outside vendors.
  • Drafts basic corporate documents and ancillary agreements including final drafts of ancillary finance agreements.
  • Prepare, revise, redline, and proofread various corporate documents including contracts, agreements, transactional matters, compliance, closing documents, UCCs, financing and lending, and audit letters.
  • Assist with the assembly of pre-closing documents and sets of executed documents for various signatures, corporate formation and dissolution documents, and UCC financing statements and amendments.
  • Manage, review, and provide comments/input on the reviews of titles, surveys, zoning reports, and finances, as well as objection letters and responses.
  • Organize and maintain complex transaction files and folders, as well as all due diligence checklists.
  • Assist with real estate closings on acquisitions, divestitures, and financing matters involving purchases and sales of real estate, including acquisition financing.
  • Manage and maintain closing bibles and agendas to ensure accuracy and up-to-date information.
  • Assist with running agendas, proformas, and categorizing all due diligence documents.
  • Organize and maintain case files using a variety of automated procedures.
  • Review documents for privilege and draft privilege logs for attorney review.
  • Perform legal and factual research.
  • Interact with outside entities (e.g., courts, government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations, vendors, and other law firms) to gather information or coordinate activities as needed in support of firm activities, specifically real estate closings.
  • Act as the liaison between case team attorneys and support staff as needed to ensure that case-specific paralegal services are meeting the team's expectations.
  • Meet billable goals as established by practice management.
  • May require overtime as needed.
  • Perform additional office support duties as assigned/requested.
