About The Position
MSA Professional Services is seeking a Real Estate Appraiser to support public improvement projects, primarily transportation-related. This is a great opportunity for a newly licensed appraiser who is ready to take the next step in their career, build greater independence, and expand into right of way and eminent domain appraisal work. At MSA, you’ll work with experienced real estate professionals and project teams while developing the specialized knowledge needed to complete appraisal and valuation assignments for local public agencies and WisDOT. You’ll gain experience with property inspections, valuation reports, right of way acquisition requirements, and WisDOT appraisal processes as you progress toward more complex assignments. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Active Wisconsin Certified Residential or Certified General Appraisal license required
- 2+ years of appraisal, real estate, or valuation experience
- Foundational understanding of real estate and property valuation principles
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work both independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

- Prior eminent domain or right of way experience is not required; we’ll help you develop that expertise
Responsibilities
- Prepare appraisals and valuation reports supporting real estate acquisitions for local public agency and WisDOT improvement projects
- Research comparable property sales and complete Sales Studies to establish unit values for various property types
- Complete property and acquisition-area inspections to evaluate potential impacts of proposed improvements
- Assist with appraisal reviews and identification of differences between property-owner and acquiring-agency valuations
- Assist with acquisition cost estimates and valuation information used for project budgeting
- Develop knowledge of right of way acquisition, eminent domain principles, Wisconsin Statute 32, and federal acquisition requirements
- Collaborate with project managers, senior appraisers, and real estate professionals to provide valuation information and documentation
- Communicate professionally with property owners and other stakeholders as needed under the guidance of experienced staff
