We are seeking a seasoned Real Estate and Facilities Attorney to provide strategic legal counsel across a broad range of real estate and facilities matters, including commercial leasing, construction, real estate transactions, and employee health and safety. This role serves as a key advisor to the business, supporting complex lease negotiations within the healthcare environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating legal risk. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience managing sophisticated corporate real estate matters—from drafting and negotiating agreements to structuring transactions and advising on portfolio management. This individual will partner closely with internal stakeholders to support business objectives while navigating evolving legal and operational considerations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, with 5+ years of relevant legal experience focused on commercial real estate and facilities-related matters
  • Active admission and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability to obtain additional licensure if required
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial leasing and real estate law, including negotiating, drafting, and advising on lease agreements, property acquisitions/dispositions, and facilities-related contracts
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience leading real estate acquisitions and dispositions, including managing comprehensive due diligence, title, survey, and closing processes
  • Proven ability to operate with minimal supervision, effectively managing 10–20 concurrent transactions while meeting tight deadlines and business priorities
  • Working knowledge of Stark and Anti-Kickback regulations as applied to leasing, with demonstrated experience ensuring compliance in healthcare real estate transactions

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience supporting large and/or diverse real estate portfolios, including multi-state leasing, facilities management matters, and portfolio optimization initiatives
  • Background in a sophisticated law firm and/or in-house legal department, with 5+ years advising on complex commercial real estate transactions and corporate real estate strategy
  • Demonstrated strong business judgment, with a track record of delivering practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance that balances risk mitigation with operational and business goals

  • Knowledge of facilities-related legal matters, including vendor agreements, construction contracts, and maintenance/service arrangements

Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate complex commercial leases, including retail, medical, office, warehouse, etc. with a focus on health care compliance
  • Advise on lease amendments, renewals, expansions, terminations, assignments, subleases, and handle landlord‑tenant disputes
  • Provide strategic guidance on lease risk allocation, operating expenses, CAM, restoration obligations, use provisions, and remedies
  • Lead legal support for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects
  • Conduct and advise on due diligence matters, including title, survey, zoning, land use, and environmental issues for leases and real property acquisition and disposition.
  • Manage outside counsel, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Advise business leaders on compliance with federal, state, and local employee health and workplace safety laws and regulations
  • Provide legal guidance on the development, interpretation, and enforcement of employee health and safety policies, standards, training programs, and incident response protocols
  • Support investigations, audits, and regulatory inquiries involving workplace safety incidents, employee exposure, or health-related claims
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams on real estate strategy, risk, and deal structuring
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with finance, facilities, operations, and executive leadership
  • Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, and best practices for 3000+ US lease portfolio
