About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE position at Gunston Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. The Reading Specialist will implement instructional programs tailored to student needs, maintain a safe and orderly environment, communicate with parents/guardians, and keep accurate student records. The role also involves collaboration with school administrators, teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members, monitoring student achievement, and participating in ongoing professional learning and meetings.

Requirements

• Teaching experience in the above mentioned area
• Knowledge of best instructional practices
• Ability to integrate technology
• Experience in educational and instructional leadership
• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Must have or be eligible for reading endorsement (masters in reading or masters in another teaching area plus reading endorsement).

Nice To Haves

• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
