Reading Specialist
About The Position
Independence Preparatory Academy is seeking a Reading Specialist to unlock the power of literacy for every child. This role involves empowering teachers with high-quality reading instruction and helping scholars develop a lifelong love of learning. The Reading Specialist will build systems, strategies, and supports to ensure all students become confident, capable readers. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 3+ years of experience in teaching literacy and driving student growth. They should be passionate about equipping teachers and scholars with reading mastery tools, fluent in evidence-based instructional practices, and committed to upholding iPrep’s core values: Service, Optimism, Agency, Resilience, and Pride.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 3+ years of experience in teaching literacy and driving student growth
- Passionate about equipping both teachers and scholars with the tools to master reading
- Fluent in evidence-based instructional practices

Responsibilities
- Deeply understand and master iPrep’s literacy framework—grounded in the Science of Reading—and ensure its consistent, high-quality implementation across classrooms.
- Build teacher expertise in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension through modeling, co-teaching, and targeted feedback.
- Drive excellence in literacy outcomes by planning and facilitating professional development focused on evidence-based reading instruction, data-driven decision making, and culturally responsive practices that meet the needs of all learners.
- Lead the coordination and analysis of reading assessments, including screeners, diagnostics, and progress monitoring tools, to evaluate student growth and inform instructional adjustments.
- Support teachers in using data to close gaps, extend learning, and celebrate progress.
- Be a proud ambassador for iPrep, inspiring and encouraging potential families to become part of our thriving iPrep community.
