The Reading Specialist will assess and identify children at risk for reading difficulties, providing direct instruction to eligible students. This role involves guiding the learning process to meet district reading standards, establishing clear learning objectives, and utilizing diverse instructional techniques and materials. The specialist will create a conducive learning environment, collaborate with staff to support students with dyslexia, and coordinate reading instruction with other school personnel. Familiarity with the RTI process and Tiered Instruction is expected. The position requires developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with the district's curriculum, maintaining accurate records, and participating in professional development to enhance reading/language arts teaching through research-based practices. Data analysis and linking it to student learning are key components, as is the effective use of technology and appropriate instructional strategies. Collaboration with staff on instructional goals and assisting in the selection of materials are also responsibilities. Strong communication skills and participation in faculty meetings and committees are expected, along with performing other assigned duties.
