About The Position

The Biome School is seeking a Reading Specialist for the FY26-27 school year to enhance student reading achievement, with a particular focus on students requiring Tier II and Tier III interventions. This role involves working with students individually or in small groups, and providing in-class support to classroom teachers. The primary objectives are to foster students' foundational reading skills, help them identify and correct reading errors, and guide them in making meaningful connections with texts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Holds a valid elementary teaching certificate for Missouri.
  • Three years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Reading certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with RSP's, HMH, CKLA and i-Ready.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Self-confident and resilient.
  • Consistent and reliable.
  • Data-driven and results-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Implements instructional practices that accelerate learning for students who struggle with reading.
  • Collects and uses student data to inform instruction for individuals and small groups.
  • Documents learner progress and communicates growth and/or decline to classroom leaders, administrators, and families.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in reading instruction, intervention, and assessments.
  • Assists in the development of intervention plans for learners.
  • Attends Tier II, Tier III, and IEP meetings, as appropriate.
  • Attends family conferences for students who are receiving services.
