About The Position

This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Abingdon Elementary School. The Reading Specialist will be responsible for current knowledge regarding language arts research and practice, current knowledge of language arts materials including core programs, supplementary programs, and children's literature, and current knowledge of both group and individual assessment and how to interpret the results. The role also requires the ability to lead team meetings and language arts committees as needed.

Requirements

• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Must have or be eligible for reading endorsement (masters in reading or masters in another teaching area plus reading endorsement).
• Three years of classroom experience, preferably elementary experience.

Nice To Haves

• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
