About The Position

This role involves helping students achieve improved standardized testing scores in reading. The instructor will establish a high degree of student/instructor rapport and create a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to promote student motivation. Maintaining a high degree of accountability within the classroom setting is crucial for maximum learning. The instructor will document student attendance, performance, progress, and behavior in a timely manner and within program guidelines, reporting any deficiencies to the manager. Instruction will be delivered using provided curriculum resources, with the possibility of developing new/updated curriculum as needed. The role includes integrating applied academic activities into classroom curriculum, holding students accountable for following Center's dress code/behavioral standards of conduct, and being responsible for adequate classroom preparation and cleanliness. The instructor will track student performance and achievement, and assist students in setting short, intermediate, and long-term goals. Effectively relating to the student population and recognizing student success in the classroom is important. Adherence to all data integrity measures related to classroom instruction and testing, and the creation and sustenance of positive working relationships with co-workers are also key responsibilities. All other duties as assigned will be performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Certified to teach in the state in which the center is located
  • Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of required subject area
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth preferred
