About The Position

WestEd is seeking a Temporary Reading Apprenticeship Facilitator to introduce the Reading Apprenticeship framework and its impact on student motivation and achievement. This role emphasizes participants practicing Reading Apprenticeship routines in the classroom. The professional learning is facilitated both in person and digitally. Online facilitators guide participants through the learning experience during synchronous video calls, respond to posts in Canvas, sense and respond to individual and group needs, and model best practices as an online facilitator. In-person facilitators lead full days of professional learning. Requirements

  • Certified Reading Apprenticeship facilitator
  • Experience utilizing the Reading Apprenticeship framework as a teacher or instructional coach
  • Ability to provide relationship- and strength-based consultation using inquiry and reflective practices
  • Knowledge of best practices in online teaching
  • Knowledge of the Canvas learning management system
  • Knowledge of WestEd’s suite of Reading Apprenticeship professional development resources and publications
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous instruction modules including reviewing and responding to discussion posts
  • Regularly communicate with participants about their progress as well as upcoming course activities
  • Track participation in the Canvas course system
  • Participate in planning and debriefing calls with the facilitation team
  • Complete a final reflection and/or debrief meeting at the conclusion of the learning
  • Facilitate in person full days of professional learning
  • Respond to participant feedback at the end of each learning day
