About The Position

This position is for a Reading Teacher for grades 7-8 within a Juvenile Detention setting, serving students in grades 6-12. The role involves instructing students in reading comprehension, literature, and writing skills, tailored to the unique needs of the juvenile detention population. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive and structured learning environment. This role requires a commitment to helping students overcome educational challenges and prepare for future success.

Requirements

Valid Nevada Teaching License with appropriate endorsement for Reading/English Language Arts (Grades 7-8 or 6-12).
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Completion of the entire three (3) year work history in the "Experience and Credentials" section of the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
Required documents attached at the time of application.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with at-risk youth or in a juvenile detention setting.
Experience teaching reading and ELA at the middle school level.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
