Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or counseling
  • 2+ years of experience working with the target population
  • Must have the ability to effectively deliver services through a variety of systems
  • Experience implementing and delivering a program by following specific program model, curriculum and guidelines.
  • Must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must be available for some evening and weekend events
  • Familiarity and experience working with target population
  • Familiarity and experience in working in or with community-based agencies
  • Familiarity and experience in working in a “practitioner-researcher” collaborative study
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated follow through on tasks; multi-project/ multi-task orientation
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and produce results with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of case management techniques and processes
  • Professional demeanor, pleasant personality, and a sense of humor
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be pass an MVR
  • Must be able to travel to all program activity sites
  • Must be able to pass a background check that will include fingerprinting
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening, motor vehicle record (MVR) and reference check according to company policy.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the Reach & Rise Program Model by recruiting, training, and matching volunteers, as well as responsible for managing risk.
  • Ensure uniformity of training curriculum, data collection, outcome objectives, and ongoing clinical support.
  • Work with research partners to collect and produce all data related to the child, the family, and the mentoring relationship, in accordance with OJJDP grant requirements.
  • Serve as the clinical mind for the respective association.
  • Participate in training provided by the National Director.
  • Deliver and coordinate services in the community.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with all aspects of active grants and the partnership agreements with OJJDP, and YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
  • Responsible for contract and budget management, organization and systems management, and program development.
  • Ensure all goals and objectives are met for the program in their association and must have the ability to clearly document outcomes and data per program protocols.
  • Provide accurate, timely completion and submission of all mentor/mentee related documents.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement the mentee growth plans, utilizing various intervention methods and techniques.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports.
  • Work with all YMCA partners to ensure positive and consistent relationship.
  • As needed, attend regular meetings with volunteers, families, and with staff from schools and/or community-based organizations.
  • Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting.
  • Provide input as to how the mentoring program can better reflect the cultural diversity of the children and families in the respective YMCA regions.
  • Participate in all required training as required by the YMCA of the USA, OJJDP grant, and YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
  • Actively participates in YMCA events and activities and adheres to the YMCA Core Values.
  • Develop an approved plan for professional development.
  • Completion of all required paperwork per the partnership agreement and as specified by the OJJDP grant requirements.
  • Ensure that all goals and objectives are met for the program in their association and clearly document outcomes and data per program protocols.
  • The YMCA of Metro Atlanta Director supports the National Director and is the “train the trainer” for the cognitive behavioral mentoring components of the program and provides ongoing training and ongoing support to other directors in the country.
  • The YMCA of Metro Atlanta Director ensures database enhancements.
