As a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), you will be a vital clinical professional, dedicated to providing high-quality respiratory care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric critical care patients. Every day, under medical and departmental direction, you'll deliver essential respiratory care per physician orders and policies. You'll ensure critical care services are met, meticulously manage equipment, and adapt care plans to optimize patient outcomes. To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication, and a compassionate approach, directly contributing to healing and recovery in critical care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Licensed by the state of California as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Completed formal training in pediatric respiratory care which includes didactic and clinical experience (for pediatric department).
  • Basic Life Support - CPR certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year previous experience as an RCP in acute care.
  • Two (2) years of acute care experience, including critical care and neonatal intensive care (for lead therapist positions).
  • Experience in pediatric mechanical ventilation and airway management (for working in the pediatric sub-acute unit).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality respiratory care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric critical care patients.
  • Deliver essential respiratory care per physician orders and policies.
  • Ensure critical care services are met.
  • Meticulously manage equipment.
  • Adapt care plans to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding infant, pediatric and adult pulmonary disease processes and appropriate respiratory care interventions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of applicable ventilator modalities and applications in the acute and sub-acute settings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of applicable infant and pediatric ventilator modalities and applications in the sub-acute setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of respiratory pharmacology, including recommended dosing, indications, and contraindications of each drug.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic management and monitoring of the sick neonate.
  • Provide safe and effective therapeutic administration of aerosolized medications to the tracheal bronchial tree through nebulized medications and IPPB.
