About The Position

Qnity Electronics’ Semiconductor Technologies – Lithography (ST Litho) R&D organization is seeking a Raw Materials and Scale-Up (RMS) Scientist/Engineer to join its team at the Marlborough, Massachusetts facility. This highly technical, collaborative role leads supplier strategy and management, drives internal raw material activities, and helps expand internal synthesis and scale-up capabilities for small molecules and polymers used in advanced lithographic applications. The role connects early-stage chemistry, internal scale-up, technology transfer to external suppliers, material qualification, and manufacturing readiness. It works across R&D, Analytical, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, and Manufacturing teams to help ensure critical raw materials transition from development into reliable, scalable manufacturing, and serves as a key technical interface with global raw material suppliers. The position is 100% onsite. Candidates living within commuting distance of Marlborough, MA, will be given priority. Sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline and at least 2 years of industrial experience, or a Master’s degree in one of these fields or a related discipline and at least 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Proven success leading complex, cross-functional technical programs from early development through supplier qualification, technology transfer, scale-up, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier qualification, raw material specifications, quality systems, change control, process validation, and technical risk management.
  • Experience translating laboratory-scale chemistry and technical requirements into scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make rigorous, data-driven decisions amid technical ambiguity.
  • Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear actions and recommendations for suppliers, cross-functional partners, and leadership.
  • Excellent project leadership, stakeholder management, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of ownership, sound technical judgment, and demonstrated ability to deliver results in demanding technical environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the semiconductor, lithography, specialty chemicals, or high-purity electronic materials industries.
  • Experience with synthesis and scale-up of small molecules, polymers, or other specialty chemical materials.
  • Direct experience working with external chemical or raw material suppliers.
  • Experience transferring materials or chemical processes from R&D or laboratory scale through external manufacturing or high-volume production.
  • Experience with supplier qualification, material specifications, change control, process validation, and technical risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex investigations involving raw material variability, supplier changes, process performance, or manufacturing issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical strategy for external raw material suppliers supporting advanced lithographic materials, including supplier selection, qualification, development, performance management, and risk mitigation.
  • Establish supplier expectations, development plans, milestones, and decision criteria for quality, capability, cost, capacity, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Lead technology transfer from laboratory development and internal scale-up to external suppliers and high-volume manufacturing, including technical packages, process and analytical alignment, qualification, and validation.
  • Help define and execute a roadmap to expand internal synthesis and scale-up capabilities for small molecules and polymers, including equipment, infrastructure, and workflows.
  • Partner with Analytical, Quality, Manufacturing, and supplier teams to establish analytical methods, specifications, incoming controls, and material-monitoring strategies.
  • Lead complex technical investigations involving raw material quality, supplier changes, process variation, manufacturing performance, and customer issues.
  • Drive root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution of critical technical and material-related issues.
  • Evaluate technical and supplier risks and translate data into clear actions and business recommendations.
  • Collaborate across R&D, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, and Manufacturing to advance materials from early development through manufacturing readiness.
  • Mentor scientists and engineers and help strengthen technical rigor, ownership, and cross-functional execution.
  • Represent Qnity Electronics in critical technical discussions with suppliers and customers.
  • Communicate program strategy, progress, technical risks, and recommendations to business and technical leadership.
