About The Position

Collectors is hiring an Authenticator to authenticate trading cards and evaluate their condition, including sports, non-sports, and trading card game cards. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of the trading card industry, expertise in authentication and grading standards, careful research, organization, and the ability to focus on cards for extended periods in an assembly-line environment. Candidates should have current knowledge of hobby trends and news; preferred applicants have one to three years of professional, dealer, or collector card authentication and/or grading experience.

The position reports to the eBay Operations Supervisor and is based onsite at the Santa Ana office five days per week. The shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The hourly range is $25–$30, with actual compensation determined by factors including location, job level, experience, and skills. The role may also be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or other compensation.

Requirements

• First-hand knowledge of trading cards and other sports and TCG collectibles.
• Expertise in counterfeits and counterfeiting or card-doctoring methods across card categories.
• Expert-level understanding of card grading systems and standards.
• Strong research skills and close attention to defects and misalignments.
• Effective problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational skills to achieve production goals and maximize productivity.
• Attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a close team environment and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work onsite in the office five days per week.
• Ability to type, use a mouse, and sit while looking at a computer for potentially long periods.
• Regular use of hands for various tasks.
• Ability to hear alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
• Ability to routinely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to use vision-aiding devices and work in dark or dimly lit rooms with soft desk lighting.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of direct card grading or authentication experience as a professional, dealer, or collector.
• Current knowledge of hobby trends and news.

Responsibilities

• Become an expert in eBay’s published card condition standards and AG processing standards.
• Authenticate trading cards and evaluate their condition efficiently without compromising accuracy.
• Maintain individual authentication production goals.
• Improve knowledge and skills through personal research and experience.
• Stay current on industry developments and news, particularly new counterfeits and alteration methods.
• Share knowledge to improve the Authentication team’s skills.
• Participate in monthly meetings and retraining sessions with the PSA Grading team as needed.
• Assist the PSA Grading team in its traditional grading environment when necessary.
