The Rare Disease Key Account Manager’s goal is to reduce time to diagnosis, increase appropriate patient identification, and improve speed to treatment by partnering with stakeholders in targeted accounts across therapeutic areas covered by Amgen’s Rare Disease products. The role addresses operational and access challenges for appropriate therapies across assigned health systems, specialty clinics, infusion centers, and sites of care, with the aim of growing the rare disease business in assigned accounts and markets. The KAM identifies account-level barriers and executes targeted strategies to enable appropriate access to therapy, strengthen clinic readiness, optimize buy-and-bill operations, and support a reliable patient and customer experience throughout the rare disease treatment journey. The position assesses account environments, develops and executes account plans, engages clinical and administrative stakeholders, and translates account data into practical opportunities and performance reviews. It serves as the commercial lead for account contracting opportunities and partners with internal teams to address access barriers and develop durable solutions. The KAM evaluates buy-and-bill workflows and works with clinics and internal partners to improve reimbursement readiness, inventory and ordering practices, and patient financial navigation. The role also coordinates cross-functional execution, provides field insights, monitors performance, maintains account documentation, and leads planning for priority account initiatives. The position requires approximately 40–60% travel within an assigned geography, including customer meetings, internal planning, and industry events.
