Ranch Hand, Barn
About The Position
Alisal, a luxury 10,500 private acre working Ranch and Resort in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country is seeking an experienced and service-oriented Ranch Hand to join our team. This full-time position entails feeding a herd of 100+ Horses (throwing hay, lifting 100lbs hay bales onto a truck); operating a John Deer Tractor; overseeing the barn and surrounding areas, making sure the area is cleaned and weeds/grass are kept at appropriate height; some construction experience and mechanical ability to work on fence repairs as well as maintenance of ranch vehicles, gates, and tools; cleaning and organizing the hay barn; checking that all livestock have access to fresh water daily; assisting the barn in manure pick up; towing a bumper pull trailer (for manure) and performing other projects as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to present proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States post offer, pre-employment.
- Must have valid CA Driver License to be covered by Alisal’s fleet insurance.
- Conditional offer subject to criminal background and DMV check.
- Open availability to accommodate varying schedules as well as able to work on weekends and holidays.
- Prior Ranch Hand experience desired 1-2 years.
- Integrity, dependability, and adaptability.
- Skilled at multi-tasking, heightened attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and organization.
- Basic knowledge and ability to operate tractor, mowers, weed whackers and other farm equipment.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.
- Able to work on site and to stand, sit, walk, and move continuously for duration of shift.
- Ability to work mainly outdoors in varied or extreme temperatures.
