About The Position

The Wild Animal Horse Refuge is seeking a Ranch Hand to assist with maintenance, fencing, field and hay work. This is a full-time, mid-level position with a salary range of $60,000 - $75,000. The role involves approximately 70% feeding and animal care operations, 10% other job duties as assigned, and 20% field and hay work. The organization is a non-profit with a positive mission and team environment, dedicated to rescuing and providing ample space for wild mustangs on over 30,000 acres in Craig, Colorado. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a passion for contributing to a great cause, and knowledge of heavy equipment such as road graders, tractors, skid loaders, and hay equipment. This position requires security on property and regular communication with the direct supervisor. Requirements

Valid State Driver's License
Able to lift 75lbs or more
Able to work as a team
Strong foundational skills with an attitude to succeed
Belief in the organization's mission
Heavy Equipment Knowledge/Experience (Utilizing Road Grader, Tractors, Skid Loader, and Hay Equipment)
Electrical and Plumbing knowledge
Construction background is preferred

Responsibilities

Perform ranch hand laborer duties including maintenance (electrical, plumbing, construction knowledge), fencing, field and hay work.
Conduct feeding and animal care operations (approximately 70% of the role).
Utilize heavy equipment such as road graders, tractors, skid loaders, and hay equipment.
Perform other job duties as assigned (approximately 10% of the role).
Assist with building gates and pens.
Drive around the property with supplies.
Perform all duties in a safe manner while following company protocol.
Handle custodial duties.
Contribute to sustainability efforts.
Perform long-term equipment care.
Provide security on property.
Communicate regularly with the direct supervisor.
