About The Position

The mission of the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to provide excellent and collaborative education, scholarship, and service to advance human well-being for all, with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations. The CNPD consists of the departments of Nursing, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Social Work as well as the Children & Family Services Training Center. For this position, the college is seeking a RAIN (Recruitment/Retention of American Indians into Nursing) Program Manager. The RAIN Program Manager is responsible for the administration of the RAIN program, including but not limited to oversight of grant funding, compliance with federal program regulations and other funding entities. This position is also responsible for fiduciary obligations such as student scholarships and stipends, budget implementation, program sustainability, etc. This position ensures a warm and welcoming environment to support positive relationships among faculty, staff, students and others.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field
3+ years of experience working with American Indian populations, organizations or communities
Experience managing and/or supervising employees
Grant writing experience
Grant administration experience
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Responsibilities

Provide strategic visioning for program sustainability and growth.
Explore opportunities for federal, national, regional, and private or philanthropic grant funding for the program and oversee and monitor existing external funding sources.
Develop, maintain and evaluate RAIN Mentor Model to identify services and employees needed to promote student retention and successful completion of academic programs on an ongoing basis.
Collaborate with CNPD associate dean, CBO and CNPD grants specialist on external funding opportunities and obligations.
Complete all grant requirements and documentation for continued funding and resubmission requirements.
Evaluate compliance with program goals and objectives as outlined in all grant requirements and ensure compliance with all Federal program regulations.
Prepare program grant reports.
Manage program budgets, including preparing and monitoring expenditures.
Plan, organize, implement and evaluate student recruitment plans.
Prepare and monitor student scholarships and stipends and working with various UND entities/departments/offices including the UND Alumni Association & Foundation.
Serve as public relations representative for RAIN, ensures ongoing networks with Tribal Nations, federal program representatives, state and local stakeholders and others.
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other indigenous programs at UND, i.e. INMED, INPSYD, and Indigenous Health as well as Tribal community colleges.
Hire, supervise and mentor RAIN staff.
Work with Operations Manager regarding staffing and other Human Resources guidelines.
Review staffing needs relative to program goals and objectives.
Conduct staff meetings, team building and planning sessions.
Complete annual staff evaluations; complete performance improvement plans as needed.
Provide mentorship regarding career pathways.
Work in collaboration with CNPD's Office of Student Services and advisors to provide student support.
Monitor student progress in collaboration with RAIN program staff.
Plan and Implement No Excuses orientation sessions with RAIN program staff for new pre-nursing students.
