About The Position

This full-time, on-site role supports the construction, inspection, and maintenance of railroad tracks and related railcar operations. The technician performs routine track inspections, basic maintenance and repairs, railcar inspections, and minor approved railcar repairs while maintaining accurate records. The role requires safe, reliable work around railcars, locomotives, tracks, and heavy equipment, along with teamwork and regular, punctual attendance. The position may offer long-term career growth in the railroad industry.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older and legally able to work in the United States.
• Must pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Must wear all required personal protective equipment without restriction and pass any required medical exams.
• Must speak, write, and read fluent English.
• Regular on-site attendance and punctuality are required.
• A valid driver's license and/or valid TWIC card may be required depending on work location.

Nice To Haves

• Track inspection or maintenance experience is preferred.
• Railcar or industrial/mechanical experience is a plus.
• Previous military experience and a proven ability to follow procedures are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine railroad track inspections and document defects and conditions.
• Perform basic track maintenance and repairs using hand and power tools.
• Assist with track repairs, ballast work, fasteners, and rerailing as needed.
• Log inbound railcars and complete the site's established railcar inspection checklist.
• Document railcar defects and communicate which cars require additional repair.
• Perform basic non-lading railcar repairs within the site's approved scope, including permitted brake-related items, placards, and other minor repairs.
• Maintain inspection and repair records.
• Work safely around railcars, locomotives, tracks, and other heavy equipment.
• Perform other duties as required to support safe and efficient track operations.
