Railroad Demolition Crew Laborer (Travel Position)
About The Position
Staiman Recycling is seeking dependable individuals to join our Railroad Demolition Crew. This role involves traveling throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states to dismantle retired railroad cars, railroad tracks, bridges, and other large steel structures. The recovered steel is then transported back to our recycling facilities for processing and recycling. The position starts with local training in Williamsport, PA, after which travel will occur Monday through Thursday, with employees returning home every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The company covers hotel expenses and provides a $40 per day meal per diem while traveling. This is not an explosives position; dismantling is done using cutting torches, heavy equipment, and specialized tools.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must pass a background check (no felony convictions).
- Must be able to travel overnight Monday through Thursday.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Shows up every day and works hard.
- Enjoys working outdoors.
- Doesn't mind getting dirty.
- Likes hands-on work.
- Can travel during the week.
- Works well with a team.
- Is willing to learn new skills.
- Has a positive attitude.
Nice To Haves
- No prior torch experience is required. We will train motivated individuals.
- Experience operating equipment is helpful but not required.
- Employees who earn or already possess a Class A CDL may qualify for significantly higher wages and additional advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Learn to safely operate oxy-fuel cutting torches.
- Help dismantle railroad cars, rail lines, bridges, and heavy steel structures.
- Operate mobile equipment (training provided).
- Assist with loading and preparing scrap metal for transport.
- Maintain a safe, organized job site.
- Work alongside an experienced demolition crew.
- Follow all company safety procedures.
