About The Position

Our railcar company is currently recruiting a highly qualified, experienced candidate for the position of Railcar Repairman. This position is responsible for performing a variety of repair, rebuild, modification, and assembly of various types of railroad freight cars and their parts in accordance with the AAR field manual, AAR Office Manual, AAR MSRPs, Code of Federal Regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of the AAR Office and Field Manual.
  • Ability to complete billing repair cards to comply with AAR billing standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of Interchange repairs.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment including but not limited to pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, cranes and forklifts.
  • Successful performance of a weld test, as administered by a CWI in accordance with an approved procedure.
  • Proper safety precautions required in the performance of all repair operations on, in or under railcar rolling stock.
  • Ability and desire to teach/impact knowledge of those working around them.
  • Be able to interpret work orders.
  • 5+ years of railcar repair experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Read and understand written instruction, as well as understand and retain oral instruction.
  • Ability to communicate clear and effectively.
  • Ability to document work activities for time accountability purposes.
  • Pre-employment drug, physical, vision, and hearing test required as well as background check; subject to random drug testing.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • 5+ years of railcar repair experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of repair, rebuild, modification, and assembly of various types of railroad freight cars and their parts in accordance with the AAR field manual, AAR Office Manual, AAR MSRPs, Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Comply with Company’s Quality Assurance Program by following quality processes and procedures.
  • Perform AAR Inspections.
  • Complete billing repair cards to comply with AAR billing standards.
  • Perform required repairs and work with the team to complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Respond to unexpected or emergency situations.
