About The Position
AITX Repair Services is seeking a Railcar Repair Technician I to perform railcar repair and maintenance. The technician reads and understands blueprints, completes repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR rules, maintains accurate repair records, and follows company guidelines, quality assurance standards, and safety rules. The role offers paid on-the-job training and the ability to be home every night with no travel.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write English at a high school level.
- Ability to work in heat, cold, and all-weather conditions.
- Comfort working around heavy equipment, on top of and under railcars, and around railroad tracks.
- Knowledge of machines and tools required to weld, cut, and gouge.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, including basic blueprints and schematics.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs.
- Coordinate and complete repairs efficiently and within assigned hours.
- Follow safety rules, keep the work area clean, and comply with AITX EHS policies.
- Ensure AAR, ARS, and customer quality assurance standards are met.
- Perform railcar repairs and maintenance in compliance with FRA and AAR rules.
- Maintain good repair records and follow company guidelines and safety requirements.
