About The Position
PRS Auto is hiring motivated people to prepare railcars for loading brand-new vehicles from the Norfolk Southern's Jefferson Assembly Plant in Detroit, MI. This is hands-on, active work in the automotive industry where you will be part of the team that gets cars securely loaded and ready to ship across the country via rail. This is a union position with opportunities to grow into bigger roles in railcar repair, operations, or beyond. PRS Auto has locations nationwide and promotes from within.
Requirements
- Local candidates only (within a 45-minute commute of the Detroit, MI area).
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pass a 7-year background check and drug test.
- Comfortable working outside, lifting, and climbing.
- Eager to learn, safety-minded, and ready to join a team that values hard work and reliability.
Nice To Haves
- No prior experience needed.
- No high school diploma or GED required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and secure chocks (tie-down devices), open/close doors, adjust decks and grates, and clear tracks with a backpack blower for smooth loading.
- Spot and flag defects so repair teams can keep everything safe and up to AAR standards.
- Bend, squat, lean, lift and move bridge plates to connect railcars.
- Follow top-notch safety protocols and PRS Auto processes.
- Learn railcar basics and industry standards through on-the-job training.
