About The Position
Road & Rail Services is seeking a reliable, safety-minded team member for our Montgomery operation. As a Railcar Prep & Inspection Technician, you will examine, clean, and prepare railcars for service. You may also perform authorized minor repairs using stick welding. This active, hands-on position is performed primarily outdoors around rail equipment. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in doing the job correctly, and can stay productive in a fast-moving industrial environment.
Requirements
- Previous stick-welding experience
- Familiarity with common hand and power tools
- Ability to understand and follow work instructions
- Willingness to work outdoors throughout the year
- Consistent, dependable attendance
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
Nice To Haves
- Experience in rail operations, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, construction, or another hands-on labor environment
Responsibilities
- Examine railcars for visible damage, excessive wear, and signs of fatigue
- Operate railcar end doors safely
- Clear dirt, debris, and other materials with backpack blowers and scraping equipment
- Identify repair needs that fall within the company's approved scope of work
- Complete authorized minor repairs using stick-welding techniques
- Care for assigned tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment
- Maintain an orderly and hazard-free work area
- Follow all Road & Rail Services, customer, and industry safety requirements
