About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Rail Track Civil Associate to join their team in Moon Township, PA. This role involves working under the direction of a Project Engineer or Project Manager to develop track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various rail projects. The associate will be responsible for designing horizontal and vertical rail alignments, track roadbed grading, developing cross sections, and assisting with quantity development. The position also includes involvement in alternative analysis, parking lot layout designs, and potential site visits and inspections for project research, client collaboration, and existing condition analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
Pursuing Fundamentals of Engineering exam with ability to obtain EIT within 6 months of hire
0-2 years of engineering experience
Proficiency with CAD (MicroStation & AutoCAD), Microsoft Office
Excellent analytical skills
Strong written/verbal communication skills
Proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
Strong interest in railroad design
Desire to obtain PE

Nice To Haves

Rail experience / interest preferred
InRoads/InRail/OpenRail experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Prepare construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Rail Track Design projects
Perform horizontal and vertical track alignment design calculations
Work independently on small projects or assist senior engineers within a large multi-disciplinary design team
Periodically perform rail or site inspections
Work closely with professional engineers to execute rail tasks
