Reporting to the Infrastructure group, you will support offices globally working from our Houston, TX office location. We’re entrepreneurs with a technical soul. Requirements

  • Recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in civil infrastructure design, DTM surfaces, alignment, grading/drainage design, and construction is an asset
  • Experience working for an engineering consultancy in the rail sector or railroad is an asset
  • Experience in the use and application of railway industry standards is an asset
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Navisworks and ArcGIS is an asset
  • Willingness to travel and work onsite (including remote locations)
  • Previous co-op or internship experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment
  • Design track and railway infrastructure in accordance with the quality objectives and regulations, laws and standards
  • Produce a wide variety of track designs, grading models, DTM surface and applicable details
  • Work with LIDAR point clouds, manage, verify and control surveys and geographic data for design needs
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in health and safety related to design
  • Perform assignments related to your sector
  • Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
  • Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
  • Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
  • Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
