About The Position

Transco Rail Services, along with Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) and Procor, provides comprehensive railcar repair and maintenance services across North America. We are seeking a reliable Rail Car II for our North Vancouver location, offering a stable position with opportunities for advancement. Requirements

  • Previous railcar repair experience and knowledge of AAR standards are an asset.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to perform all necessary repairs of railcars and their components.
  • Competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment.
  • Experience with stick welding (SMAW) is considered an asset.
  • Valve training and/or certifications are considered an asset.
  • Must be able to read and understand written work orders and material safety data sheets.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise.
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, and carry hand and power tools.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions with loud noises and fumes.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Adhere to Transco Rail Services' health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy) and wear required personal protective equipment safely.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to complete and pass full medical testing upon hire.
  • Ability to complete additional job-related screening processes following a conditional offer of employment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Perform car repairs, including cutting and welding on rail bodies (tank and/or hopper) and other components.
  • Conduct light and medium-duty repairs on rail cars.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards, including the Responsible Care Policy.
  • Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures.
  • Wear and utilize all required safety equipment, such as respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, steel-toed boots, and fall protection, in accordance with EHS instructions.
  • Perform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standards.
  • Complete tasks with a sense of urgency while delivering safe and accurate results.
