About The Position

HDR is hiring a Rail Bridge Designer/EIT to support structural engineering and detailing for bridge projects. Projects typically include steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental and cable bridges, box culverts, and interchange designs for highway and railway projects. The role also participates in bridge inspections and performs structural load calculations, geometric layout, and quantity development. The designer selects standard bridge engineering and design procedures and develops structural details using specialized software. Local candidates are preferred. Candidates without an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate will be assigned a Design Coordinator job code and are expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related engineering field is listed as a preferred qualification; a bachelor's degree is required.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Familiarity with Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
• Commitment to active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Experience with engineering software such as FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Experience with MS Office, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and LARSA.
• Prestressed concrete design experience.
• Experience in bridge or structural design.
• Local candidates preferred.
