This position supports the conductor with safe and efficient switching operations, railcar movements, and track switching while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Previous Related Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid DL required
  • Use of two-way radio communication.
  • Operation of track switches and handbrakes/air brakes.
  • Coupling and uncoupling railcars safely.
  • Safe operation of UTV’s and yard vehicles.
  • Use of PC and applicable software.
  • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
  • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
  • Must maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental training standards.

Nice To Haves

  • previous railcar switching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand switch lists.
  • Operate yard and track switches safely and efficiently.
  • Identify railcar damage.
  • Assist conductor in railcar placement and movement during switching operations.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements.
  • Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
  • Be active in Operation Clean Sweep and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
