About The Position

To support the conductor with safe and efficient switching operations, railcar movements, and track switching while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
Use of two-way radio communication.
Operation of track switches and handbrakes/air brakes.
Coupling and uncoupling railcars safely.
Safe operation of UTV’s and yard vehicles.
Use of PC and applicable software.
Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
Must maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental training standards.

Nice To Haves

previous railcar switching experience preferred

Responsibilities

Read and understand switch lists.
Operate yard and track switches safely and efficiently.
Identify railcar damage.
Assist conductor in railcar placement and movement during switching operations.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements.
Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
Be active in Operation Clean Sweep and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
Perform other duties as assigned.
