Our Rail and Transit Solution engineers undertake a multitude of engineering tasks related to the design and deployment of complex systems managing technical processes across the systems engineering lifecycle including requirements management, design, integration, verification, and validation of system elements to ensure systems assurance Are you ready to work on complex transportation projects that will have a lasting impact across Canada? We are currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to work on projects in Western Canada and beyond. The ideal candidate will support key system-level activities in the deployment of state of the art transit command, control and communication systems by serving as a professional staff member of the Parsons team. You must be organized and effective in communicating plans, requirements, results, and information to internal and external customers at a variety of management levels and technical backgrounds. Requirements

  • Experienced in team management and able to lead a project team
  • Experienced in the design and/or integration of communication systems and train control systems into transit facilities and vehicles
  • Experienced in the generation of technical requirements and specifications
  • Experienced with digital delivery tools, including DOORS, or similar RM package
  • Accustomed to operating within a multi-disciplinary project structure with responsibility for multiple system domains.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision
  • Able to interact with senior staff as technical lead
  • Able to interact within discussions with partners, clients and suppliers and able to take the technical lead on such discussions.
  • Able to work in design office, project office and field environments.
  • Able to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited institution (a combination of years of experience, education, training, and certifications will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • P.Eng designation in BC
  • 15+ years related professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Managing a System Engineering team on one or more projects
  • Working with domain engineering teams designing, delivering and setting to work o Communications, o Signaling and Train Control, o Traction Power, o Trackwork, and o Fixed Facilities
  • Working with system engineering teams delivering o System Architects, o Requirements Management, o Interrace Management o Verification and Validation, and o Systems Assurance
  • Working with other internal disciplines, design teams and external team members (architects, code consultants, contractors, AHJs, major suppliers, etc.).
  • Interaction with Operations and Maintenance teams
  • Support of construction and installation activities in the field
  • Assistance with Test & Commissioning and setting to work of Mass Transit systems
  • Assistance with customer staff training
  • Assistance with the generation of O&M Manuals
