About The Position

NiteLines USA is seeking a Radiology (X-Ray) Technologist for a long-term contract at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. This role involves performing a variety of routine and moderately complex diagnostic radiographic procedures, including specialized studies of the eye and foreign body localization. The technologist will be responsible for patient record management, including electronic medical records and transfer of scans to the Picture Archival Communication Systems (PACS). Quality control and equipment maintenance reporting are also key aspects of this position. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, radiation protection, and radiographic equipment.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in the specialty identified in the TO.
  • One year of experience within the last two years as a radiologic technologist or in the radiologic technologist specialty area identified in the TO.
  • Knowledge of moderately complex radiographic procedure of the eye, skull, hand, foot, and facial features.
  • Knowledge of radiographic equipment, to ascertain if malfunction or safety hazard is present and to ensure proper maintenance performed.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology such as the structure, location, and function of major organs and the skeletal system.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection agency standards including radiation sensitive areas of the body and all protective devices and methods appropriate to the equipment and procedures used.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of routine and moderately complex diagnostic radiographic procedures.
  • Performs temporomandibular joint studies (TMJ) and special localization films of foreign bodies of the eye, hand, and foot.
  • Takes all required eye films for the purpose of locating foreign bodies.
  • Properly arrives, prints radiology worksheet, departs the patient electronic medical record, and transfers the scan to the medical Picture Archival Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Responsible for Quality Control Assessment and approval prior to release of the patient and transfer of the scan.
  • Reports needed repairs to government supervisor to maintain equipment in proper working condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
