About The Position

Under indirect supervision, operates radiographic equipment using imaging modalities. Performs general diagnostic radiology procedures in compliance with department protocols. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Applies principles of radiation protection and provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures. Core Duties and responsibilities include being responsive to the needs of others by maintaining professional behavior toward members and coworkers and creating a positive image for the department, identifying the impact of cultural diversity and lifestyle choices on patient condition and making accommodations for such differences, demonstrating competence in the operation of radiographic equipment, both mobile and stationary in various patient care settings, consistently selecting correct technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the patients age and body habitus, consistently selecting other equipment settings/parameters appropriately, consistently processing radiographic images properly, utilizing automated equipment, using proper sterile technique, consistently operating imaging computer properly and in accordance with department protocols (CT, MRI), demonstrating competence in the positioning of patients for radiographic imaging, routinely positioning patients accurately relative to the requirements of the study as stated in the department protocols, utilizing various immobilizing devices whenever necessary, taking special care in handling/positioning patients with critical injuries or trauma, demonstrating an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients of the age group served, assessing data reflective of the patient’s status and interpreting the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed, adjusting technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the physical maturation of the patient, modifying patient positioning techniques relative to the patient’s physical and cognitive abilities, taking special care in handling, positioning and/or restraining infants and geriatric patients, never leaving infant, pediatric or disoriented geriatric patient unattended, exercising good clinical judgment by consulting with the radiologist or other clinician, selecting alternate or additional view appropriately, and not attempting to perform an exam in any case in which it cannot be performed safely and/or properly. The role also involves documenting clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner, completing and initialing the standard consultation form and the Radiology Processing Record accurately and immediately following each procedure, demonstrating good communication skills, communicating verbally in a clear and concise manner, communicating verbal instruction to member in a manner that is conducive to understanding and compliance, demonstrating courteous and appropriate telephone skills, speaking English in the presence of patients, communicating in writing accurately, completely and legibly, demonstrating professional maturity in all interactions with patients and staff, striving to maintain good working relationships and rapport with patients, other members of the department and the health care team, being flexible and cooperative about schedule changes, responding appropriately to constructive criticism, functioning independently within the defined scope of position, meeting productivity norms, maintaining equipment, supplies and work area in accordance with department guidelines, keeping equipment and work area clean at all times, routinely handling equipment with care to avoid damage, and reporting equipment malfunctions to supervisory staff promptly. Additionally, the role requires observing all organizational, regional, medical service area and Diagnostic Imaging Department policies and procedures, being compliant with policies and procedures, observing Regional Radiation Safety Standards and Department Safety Policies, maintaining standards of professional behavior, greeting members promptly and courteously, informing members of reason for any delays, treating patients in accordance with the Patients Bill of Rights, and conducting only work related conversations when patients are waiting for service. Requirements

California Radiologic Technologist Certificate required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification required.
Minimum of 1 years of Radiologic Technologist experience required.
Experience performing specialty radiology examinations required.
Proficient in reading and reviewing digital imaging systems (PACS) required.
Strong knowledge of radiology safety standards, patient positioning, and imaging protocols.

Nice To Haves

2 years of Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
Experience performing Arthrogram X-ray procedures preferred.
California DEXA (Bone Densitometry) certification/licensure preferred.
