Shriners Children’s is seeking a Radiology Technologist to effectively perform Radiology Services as required in the treatment of all patients. Requirements

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) licensure
• BLS
• License in state of practice

Nice To Haves

• Recent experience performing diagnostic radiographic procedures in an acute care hospital setting
• Recent experience operating digital radiography (DR) imaging equipment
• Working knowledge of PACS and Radiology Information Systems (RIS)
• 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience
• Previous acute care experience as a radiologic technologist using both portable and C-arm equipment
• Previous pediatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Routine imaging of pediatrics with emphasis on orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, and burns.
• Verifies patient identification and confirms radiology order prior to imaging.
• Communicates appropriate information and provides assistance and instruction to the patient, family, and co-worker prior to the exam.
• Obtains correctly positioned radiographs to visualize area of interest as ordered by physician.
• Utilizes positioning equipment appropriately.
• Adheres to safety regulations to ensure maximum protection from radiation exposure for all patients, family members, and co-workers.
• Utilizes ALARA as a guiding principle for radiation safety.
• Utilizes lead shields for patients and family members as needed.
• Verifies non-pregnancy state for females of child bearing age prior to exam.
• Removes non-essential persons from the x-ray room prior to generating x-rays.
• Consistently utilizes appropriate operator protection devices and wears film badge.
• Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment according to specific operational guidelines, department policies and procedures, manufacturer's guidelines, and radiation standards.
• Utilizes technique charts and established protocols for exposure and positioning.
• Adjusts exposure factors and positions x-ray tube head appropriately for each exposure.
• Documents appropriately and demonstrates proficiency with PACS, RADNET, and the EHR.
• Completes CD production for outside studies and outside surgeries with appropriate documentation.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for adherence to organizational and departmental standards.
• Promotes and maintains positive working relationships by effectively communicating with the department team and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Adheres to the ASRT Code of Ethics.
• Maintains current certifications, attends required in-service training, and complies with mandatory education requirements.
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to effectively plan, organize, and shift priorities to meet patient care and staffing needs.
• Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
