About The Position

The Radiology Technologist is responsible for understanding and performing services offered at Grant Regional, including general radiology, bone density, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy. This position will also serve as a phlebotomist at outreach clinics, performing phlebotomy, capillary puncture, specimen processing, and limited laboratory testing (CLIA waived). The technologist will travel and work between the main Lancaster location and the new Fennimore Clinic, as well as any future locations. The Fennimore Clinic operates from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

  • ARRT registered or registry eligible.
  • Licensed Radiographer by the State of Wisconsin.
  • Knowledge of general radiography and fluoroscopy required.
  • Must be willing to cross-train in a minimum of Computed Tomography.

  • Multimodality experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Operate radiographic equipment to produce quality radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Operate mobile radiographic equipment in the operating room, emergency room, or at a patient’s bedside.
  • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for patients.
  • Transfer and properly position patients for examinations and provide immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Select and operate equipment, choosing proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
  • Use film markers correctly and consistently.
  • Assist physicians in performing examinations and provide first aid as necessary.
  • Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness.
  • Secure and return supplies and maintain room stock.
  • Report equipment failure to the supervisor using proper forms and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Perform and obtain complete patient history, proper documentation, and consents.
  • Purge and digitize film following required guidelines.
  • Complete image release processes appropriately.
  • Assist in scheduling exams and procedures.
  • Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures. May be designated as acting supervisor in the absence of the supervisor or senior technologist.
  • Travel between the main Lancaster location and Fennimore outreach clinic to deliver labs, paperwork, etc., and work in either location based on GRHC needs.
