The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiography procedures using established protocols and complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, manipulate, and document image data. The role works with radiologists and imaging technologists to support accurate diagnosis and treatment, while providing respectful, patient-focused care in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The position requires a minimum of 16 hours per month, with a variable schedule that includes on-call and holiday rotation. The technologist identifies patients using two identifiers, follows universal protocol, reviews patient history and physician orders, and applies departmental protocols. Responsibilities also include administering oral and rectal contrast as ordered, documenting patient history, coding and tracking exams through the RIS system, networking studies to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and entering exam charges. The technologist exercises independent judgment to adjust protocols and appropriately apply ionizing radiation, and communicates procedures clearly to help patients understand and cooperate. Candidates must graduate from an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or provide verification of program completion and a scheduled graduation date. Technologists hired before graduation receive indirect supervision from an ARRT-certified diagnostic technologist until their degree is verified. The position requires ARRT registry eligibility, obtaining the radiography registry within six months of hire, CPR or BLS, and the listed clearances and certifications.
