About The Position

This full-time position will operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated body parts as ordered by a physician. The technologist will be accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures, ensuring quality studies through proper technical parameters. They will be knowledgeable in the safe operation of general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment, and proficient in general diagnostic procedures, including fluoroscopy, GI, and Pain procedures if applicable. The role requires adherence to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques, as well as ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure. Responsibilities include proper patient identification, obtaining patient history, explaining procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and reviewing radiographs for quality. The technologist will also perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems, label radiographs appropriately, and maintain a professional attitude, fostering teamwork and collaboration. A customer-first approach with patients, families, and visitors is expected. The role involves participating in self-assessment of learning needs, seeking opportunities for growth, attending in-services and CPR classes, and maintaining state licensure and national board certification. Additionally, the technologist will manage supplies, ensure cleanliness of equipment and work areas, and use Universal Precautions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible. For new graduates, ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding of RIS & PACS
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays in order to accommodate patient care needs.
  • Ability to work rotating shift any day of the week.
  • Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies.
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability and operation of all general radiography, portable and fluoro equipment (if applicable to home site)
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures. If applicable to home site, is also proficient in general fluoroscopy procedures, including GI and Pain procedures.
  • Adheres to infection prevention, isolation and sterile techniques as it applies in patient handling and delivery of care
  • Adheres to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, the patient and others
  • Utilizes proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performing on the correct patient at the correct time.
  • Obtains and records pertinent patient history, explains the procedure to patient in a manner to ensure understanding, ensures patient comfort during performance of exam.
  • Adherence to department standards of radiographic quality.
  • Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality.
  • Reports environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel.
  • Performs required computer function for RIS/HIS systems.
  • Labels all radiographs appropriately following department’s established criteria and standards.
  • Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, teamwork and collaboration with co-workers, physicians and internal customers/departments.
  • Consistently provides positive interactions and a customer first approach with patients and their families/caregivers and visitors.
  • Participates in assessment of own learning needs and actively seeks opportunity for increased competency and growth
  • Attends in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures.
  • Attends CPR classes to maintain re-certification.
  • Maintains appropriate state license and national board certification.
  • Maintenance of supplies needed to ensure adequate level needed for quality patient care.
  • Ensures cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies in work area.
  • Identifies supplies and equipment needs for procedure, restocks work area as necessary.
  • Uses Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures.
